When people who remembered the 90s heyday of pizza delivery got together to discuss its merits compared to how things work today, it was clear that a lot of them believed that there was something a little more special about the experience. Naturally, it wasn't perfect, and order mix-ups and late deliveries still happened.
If there was one thing that most people could agree on, it was that there was more of a connection between a customer and their local business. Compared to the more impersonal service that can be found today, it is a totally different world. Although it is not something that everybody is going to miss, it definitely changes how it feels to do something as simple as ordering a pizza. The gig economy has made it so that many things seem to be that much more temporary.
